Phew, busy day today!
First job of the day was a ladybug (ladybird) survey. We found over 300! They were mainly the native 7-spot species and a couple of other species. I was seeing red dots on everything after Gosia and I had finished! Once we had finished the survey, the next task was not so nice.
Due to the weather of late, which has not been that pleasant (wind and rain), the sheep have been taking shelter around the Farm House. This has meant that they have left lots of piles of 'presents' for the staff and anybody wanting to come into the Farm House through the front door. Our job (Gosia and I) was to clear the poop from the entrance area, so the residential hopefully coming on tomorrow won't trample poop into the Farm House, making it smell! It took about an hour, but it looks and smells a lot better now. This took us up to lunch and luckily I hadn't been put of my food. It takes a lot more than that, to put me off my food. Lucky really.
After lunch we were set on clearing the 'off-island' rubbish pile in front of the workshop. The weather was horrid! It absolutely tipped it down! I won't need to take a shower now as it was that bad!! But I think I'll have a wash though, rather hot work moving large objects and having to carry them all the way down the steps to the jetty. This took us two and a half hours and we spent most of the time getting drenched. But the jobs hadn't finished there, there was one last task. We had to check the jetty to make sure it was all ready for the boat carrying the residential coming over tomorrow. There were a couple of mesh coverings that needed nailing down a bit more securely, but all good apart from that.
Anyway, the weather has cleared up nicely now! Shame it wasn't so nice when we were working. However, it does mean that a relaxing evening can be had watching the sun go down; that's if I don't fall asleep first! Standing By.
